My foray into full-time art work in metal and glass. With the help and encouragement of my wonderful wife, this journey began in July 2010. Expect to see over the course of the summer:

Development of the webpage and blog
Organization of the business and workspaces
Design and creation of new works

Warm glass (kiln formed and lampworked)
Coldworked glass (cutting, grinding, sanding and polishing)
Stained glass
Silver and copper metalwork
Rocks and gems (shaping, polishing, mounting)

Products:

Glass plates, bowls and other kiln formed creations
Lampworked beads and small decorations
Silver and copper jewelry parts and finished necklaces, earrings, etc.
Stained glass panels, lampshades and 3 dimensional pieces

Future:

Well, we’ll just have to see what comes…

Hi Brenda – the 4 S is in honor of our departed beasties – Sable, Spike, Snoop and Striper. I have a logo in mind involving their tails, but my imagination outstrips my Paintshop pro skills 🙂

Melt-a-waa?

Much of the work I do with glass and metal involves heat of some sort (soldering iron, kiln, torch) and involves heating the glass or metal to the point at which it can be manipulated with small tools and/or gravity. The heat work I do with glass is technically known as warm glass.

Hot glass is the more commonly thought of glassblowing work that involves glass pulled from a glass furnace - this is what is displayed at the Tacoma Museum of Glass (a highly recommended visit). I don't currently do this type of work.
